Adele has snatched a 20th week atop the UK album chart with her multi-million selling LP 21.
The ‘Someone Like You’ singer has now spent a total of 21 Sundays at pole position with her sophomore release and its predecessor 19, equalling a chart record set by Queen and Oasis. The legendary acts took eight and nine albums respectively to achieve the feat.
21 this week added to the impressive number of accolades it has already collected by becoming the first album by a British artist to spend 16 weeks atop the US chart, equalling a record set by the Titanic soundtrack in 1998.
Midweek chart-topper A Flash Flood Of Colour by Enter Shikari is forced to settle for the title of this week’s highest new entry at four, slotting in behind climbing favourites + by Ed Sheeran and Mylo Xyloto from Coldplay.
Last week’s number one Doo Wops & Hooligans by Bruno Mars drops down to five, while Florence + The Machine rise 13 to eight with Ceremonials and Rizzle Kicks gain another five places with Stereo Typical at nine. Jessie J completes the Top 10 after advancing two with Who You Are.

Elsewhere, the self-titled debut from Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Kasabian’s Velociraptor dip four apiece to 12 and 13 after a brief return to the top-sellers. Amy Winehouse’s posthumous release Lioness: Hidden Treasures is also down five to 15.
However, the biggest loss in the top 20 belongs to The Maccabees, who crash 12 spots to 16 with Given To The Wild. Rihanna, meanwhile, slips from 15 to 19 with Talk That Talk, and Baby by Tribes is a new entry at 20.
