Harry Potter Deathly Hallows: Part 2′ retains UK box office lead

Harry, Hermione and Ron in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 has spent its second consecutive weekend at the UK box office summit.

The finale for JK Rowling‘s wizard series, which opened to a record-breaking £23 million, pulls in £8.5 million in ticket sales to claim the number one spot.

Pixar’s latest release Cars 2, featuring the voice talents of Michael Caine and Owen Wilson, speeds into second place with £3.5 million. The total outpaces the £2.6 million collected by its predecessor Cars on its release in 2006.

Occupying third and fourth spots are comedies Horrible Bosses and Bridesmaids, while Transformers: Dark of the Moon completes the top five.

Elsewhere, Ewan McGregor’s comedy-drama Beginners is the only other new release to chart in the top ten as it lands at number three.
