National acclaim could soon be heaped on a Nuneaton businesswoman - and she still cannot believe it.

Jo Williams of Joco was sent into a spin when she found out her unique gift store was up for a huge award - so much so that she literally could not contain her delight.

Joco, which is based in the Ropewalk Shopping Centre, is in the running for Britain's Best Small Shop.

For Jo Williams, who first started her unique store from a shop in Queens Road, it really is a reason to celebrate.

"I just can't believe it," she said.

"I saw about Britain's Best Small Shop and thought 'why not enter it', I was a bit late into the competition so I really didn't think we would get anywhere."

Then an email arrived: "I thought I was too late and just thought we had no chance, so I had forgot about it really until I got the email and it said 'Congratulations, you have made it into the top ten'.

"I could not believe it, I screamed and ran around the shop like a lunatic."

The mum-of-two prides herself on championing her hometown. She said: "There is so much going for Nuneaton at the minute, we have the BID getting up and running and lots happening in the town centre.

"We should celebrate what we have."

As for celebrating, the business woman is now looking forward to the award ceremony.

The final of the Best Small Shops competition, which is managed by the Independent Retailers Confederation (IRC), is being held in the Houses of Parliament.
