Great post! World in Action was one of my favourite tv themes and shows of all time, speaking of which, where was this place?, my guess is edgwick or foleshill, but the entire documentary is well worth a watch.

[admin's note: YouTube's goto feature is a bit haphazard so I recommend jumping to the 8m20s mark]

Hi Cheburashka  the only similar unit I can find any reference to is or was in Torrington Avenue, Tile Hill but it might not be the same one?

I don't think it's Edgwick, it looks far more central to me. Could it be Gulson Rd Hospital? At 8:41you can see out through the windows, but I can't relate to anything.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Thank You very much for the welcome Gents  , as a 1973 boy born in walsgrave hospital, living in Willenhall til 1976, then Stoke Aldermoor til '79, and Stoke Green ever since, Torrington Avenue would have been totally unknown to me until I passed my driving test in 1992, so I would never have guessed Torrington Avenue just going by the brief glimpses of the buildings at the 8m20s mark. This silent British Pathe video shows several Coventry companies including The Torrington Company standing beside a very quiet A45 where Costco is now, but I'd like to know where the 'Effluent Disposal' facility was? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQHTrbyj76I and this yellow Coventry fire engine was filmed on Tile Hill Lane round the corner, circa 1965, I can clearly remember seeing one of these in Willenhall as a very young lad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEqXu6nH9YA

Hi again Cheburashka  ,

The Effluent Disposal tanker was registered in Essex so there's every reason to suppose it also came form there.

There's a very early thread on the yellow (and indeed every other colour of the rainbow) fire engines here:
