Staff and students at Coventry University are trying to find the owner of a local cat, who they’ve adopted as their unofficial mascot, before he is rehomed.

The friendly tabby, nicknamed TUC (The Uni Cat), spends most of his time posing for students' photos around the university campus, Coventry Cathedral and The Herbert Art Gallery .

He was taken to Medivets in Upper York Street after being picked up by a concerned local who thought he was homeless.

However concerns are growing that the cat could already have an owner due to his tame nature.

Ali Bushnell, student communications officer at the university, is heading up the campaign to try and find TUC’s owner.

She said: “We have put stuff out on social media about the cat but no-one has claimed him yet.

“He is still at the vets and apparently eating well and having a fuss made of him.”

The ‘popular’ character is much loved by the student population with dozens of people have shared photos and stories of their meetings with TUC on the Spotted: Coventry University Facebook page .

Ali added: “If no-one comes forward, whoever is lucky enough to get him, they will inherit a fabulous cat.”

If anyone knows TUC’s owner then please get in touch with Medivets on 02476 225101.
