Warwickshire's libraries could close on Sundays due to £100,000 council cuts.

The county's three largest libraries in Rugby, Nuneaton and Leamington Spa currently open for four hours each.

The council plans to save £54,000 from Sunday closures, £14,600 by cutting the wage bill and £31,400 by saving on administration and mobile libraries.

The decision on whether to launch a consultation on the plan will be made on 22 January. If approved, Sunday opening would stop in August 2016.

Warwickshire county councillor Kam Kaur, portfolio holder for customers, has been recommended to approve consultation on the plans.

The council has cut £2m from the library service over the past four years.

A total of 13 libraries became community managed in 2012, while opening hours and mobile library services were reduced.

Meanwhile, in Coventry a consultation on whether to close Arena Park and Willenhall libraries ends on 1 February.

It would appear that the Ginger Gnome has her own views on the Arena library...

...the issue with the Arena location is the rent is very costly. We had all the things XXXXX talks about at the Holbrooks Libray and community centre which was right in the centre of a deprived community that where you could argue the need is most

Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
