EastEnders was Tuesday's (April 28) most-watched programme as Max Branning lost his war with Phil Mitchell, according to overnight figures.

6.44m (34.0%) tuned in at 7.30pm on BBC One to see Max and Kat Moon confide in each other. BBC Three's repeat screening claimed 334k (2.5%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale appealed to 5.59m (31.4%) at 7pm on ITV and 173k (0.9%) on +1 as Vanessa worried about her pregnancy.

Elsewhere, 4.38m (21.8%) saw Mo decide to contact her birth father on Holby City at 8pm on BBC One.

Lindsey resolved to confront her past on Channel 4's Hollyoaks, which attracted 700k (4.3%) at 6.30pm, while E4's first look followed with 562k (3.2%) at 7pm and 133k (0.7%) on +1.

Neighbours entertained 760k (11.6%) at 1.45pm and 760k (6.2%) at 5.30pm on Channel 5 as the boundaries became blurred between Naomi and Paul.

Home and Away mustered 272k (4.1%) at 1.15pm and 537k (3.7%) at 6pm on Channel 5, while 5*'s first look followed with 372k (2.3%) at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, Doctors was seen by 1.31m (20.7%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
