The Apprentice climbs to 6.4 million viewers on Wednesday

The Apprentice rose to its second-highest viewership this series, overnight data reveals.

The BBC One show climbed by around 300,000 viewers from last week to 6.41 million (28.1%) at 9pm. BBC Two's You're Fired gathered 2.28m (12.6%) at 10pm.

Earlier, Panorama interested 2.52m (12.1%) at 7.30pm, while Children in Need special Looking After Mum was seen by 1.21m (11.8%) at 10.35pm.

BBC Two's Great Interior Design Challenge interested 1.43m (7.0%) at 7pm, followed by MasterChef: The Professionals with 2.91m (13.8%) at 8pm and The Great Continental Railway with 2.29m (10.0%) at 9pm.

On ITV, Surprise, Surprise entertained 3.45m (16.3%) at 8pm (183k/0.8% on +1). The second part of Broadmoor fascinated 2.25m (9.9%) at 9pm (184k/1.2%).

Channel 4's Posh Pawn brought in 1.38m (6.6%) at 8pm (123k/0.5%), followed by the return of Liberty of London with 1.04m (4.6%) at 9pm (297k/1.9%).

On Channel 5, Gibraltar: Britain in the Sun attracted 865k (4.1%) at 8pm, while Can't Pay? We'll Take It Away continued with 1.22m (5.4%) at 9pm (174k/1.1%). Wentworth's latest episode was seen by 565k (3.6%) at 10pm.

Nick Grimshaw's Sweat the Small Stuff dipped to 170k (0.9%) at 10pm on BBC Three.
