'Downton Abbey' rises in Sunday ratings

Downton Abbey climbed in the ratings for its second episode of the fourth series, according to overnight figures.

The ITV period drama gained around 100,000 viewers from last week to 9.23 million (37.8%) at 9pm, with an added 389k (2.5%) on +1.

The X Factor dipped by around 300k from last Sunday to 9.18m (37.3%) at 8pm (291k/2.5% on +1).

On BBC One, Countryfile interested 6.27m (28.6%) at 7pm, followed by Antiques Roadshow with 5.74m (22.8%) at 8pm. Thriller By Any Means dropped around 700k from last week's opener to 3.46m (14.1%) at 9pm.

BBC Two's The Crane Gang appealed to 925k (3.7%) at 8pm, while The Story of the Jews continued with 834k (3.4%) at 9pm.

On Channel 4, Man Made Home attracted 941k (3.7%) at 8pm (279k/1.1%). Big Fat Quiz of the '90s entertained 1.55m (7.0%) at 9pm (194k/1.4%).

Channel 5's broadcast of Gone in 60 Seconds thrilled 647k (3.4%) at 9pm. On BBC Three, Family Guy amused 978k (5.1%) at 10pm.
