Ratings: 'Hollyoaks', Joel stabbing boosts E4's first look

Hollyoaks' first look screening was boosted by Joel Dexter's stabbing storyline on Wednesday evening (May 16), overnight figures show.

Hollyoaks pulled in 541k (2.9%) on E4 at 7pm and a strong 234k (1.1%) an hour later on +1 as fans tuned in to see the teenager's fate after he was attacked.

Earlier, the main airing on Channel 4 was watched by 908k (5.2%) at 6.30pm and 186k (1.0%) on timeshift.

Emmerdale was the most-watched soap of the day, attracting 6.06m (32.0%) at 7pm and 244k (1.2%) on +1 with Sean's desperate lies about Ruby.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours grabbed 628k (9.8%) at 1.45pm and 926k (6.7%) at 5.30pm, while Home and Away managed 692k (4.3%) at 6pm and 521k (3.0%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Elsewhere, the latest episode of Doctors - titled 'Testament' - was seen by 1.44m (22.6%) at 1.45pm on BBC One.
