Craig Lewis, from Knowle, was seeking a new coat for Christmas and visited an outdoor shop in Bristol with his brother Philip and friend Luke Monks. A day later the shop was allegedly burgled and goods worth £14,000 were taken.

Lewis, 22, said he was stunned when a poster appeared a few weeks ago featuring the trio under the words ''burglary - Outdoors - Brislington''.

He told The Daily Telegraph: "I couldn't believe it. It said 'caught on camera' and underneath it said 'burglary' and had pictures of all three of us. It was a picture of me, but I hadn't done anything wrong."

Avon and Somerset Police said that the posters have been removed and that Lewis has been eliminated from their inquiries. A 23-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of burglary and has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
