'EastEnders' attracts 7.7m for Ben, Patrick showdown

EastEnders came close to 8m viewers on Tuesday evening with a showdown between Ben and Patrick, the latest audience data has revealed.

The BBC One soap was seen by 7.74m (37%) from 7.30pm, as Phil stood up for Ben after he found him locked in the Minute Mart with Patrick. The repeat screening fetched 947k (5%) on BBC Three from 10pm.

Also on BBC One, Holby City grabbed 4.99m (22%) in the 8pm hour for the episode 'Everything to Play For', featuring Michael's attempt to tell Hanssen the truth.

Emmerdale was seen by 6.24m (32.4%) on ITV1 from 7.30pm and 206k (0.9%) on +1, as John reluctantly sacked Alex from the farm and reduced Andy's hours.

Elsewhere, Hollyoaks appealed to 980k (5.7%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before E4's first look at the next episode mustered 351k (1.8%) from 7pm and 128k (0.6%) on +1.

Earlier in the day, Doctors entertained 1.48m (24.8%) on BBC One from 1.45pm, while Neighbours had 568k (9.4%) on Channel 5. The Aussie drama's repeat screening was watched by 1.11m (8.1%) from 5.30pm.

Home And Away managed 718k (4.6%) on Channel 4 from 6.30pm, before 5*'s first look at the next episode pulled in 375k (2.2%).
