This is a poorly drafted piece of legislation which was rushed through Parliament without any proper debate. Recent court cases have already shown there is no reliable way of indentifying if an internet user has been sharing copyright material or not. An innocent person is many times more likely to be accused than someone who has.

It will do nothing to salvage the what little is left of the pre-recorded music and video market. This was already in terminal decline before most people even had an internet connection. Most of the counterfeit discs which are sold are imported directly from China and not downloaded from the internet anyway.

Also this new legislation does nothing to address the existing phenomenon of rogue companies which sue random individuals for alleged copyright infringement purely on the off-chance that they will pay up rather be named in court.
