Other than it having existed since (at least) 1699, nothing I'm afraid.

Thanks anyway, perhaps somebody else might come up with something.

The reason I would like some info is my Great Granfather was the landlord around 1860.

Once again Dutchman Thanks.

There is a paperback by John Ashby called "The Character of Coventry" which has a details of almost all the pubs which ever existed in the city centre. It is also invaluable for determining when a particular street was closed or when a row of buildings was demolished. Unfortunately most of the information it contains about the Turk's Head is from 1901 onwards when it was known by many different names.

Is that author the guy who kept a pub in Spon End?
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

I'm afraid I don't know Rebbonk  He has written a book about Spon End and Spon Street but I don't recall him ever mentioning keeping a pub here himself?

My mistake, the guy I was thinking of was Nigel Ashby.
