A man has been sentenced to six years in prison for robbing a cash machine outside a supermarket in Leamington late last year.
35-year old Michael Sherlock from Small Heath in Birmingham admitted the raid at the Tesco store on the Parade on 17th December.
It happened as security guards were loading money into the machine, who managed to apprehend Sherlock before police arrived.
Two other men arrested over the incident were released without charge.
Speaking at the time of the raid, Detective Inspector Liam Barry from Warwickshire Police said: “This was an extremely serious incident which could have resulted in members of the public and staff being seriously injured.”
“Thanks to the quick thinking of staff at Tesco, the security company and members of the public one person was detained at the scene.”
“I would like to thank those people who assisted with this.”
Sherlock was jailed at Warwick Crown Court.
