Coventry Market is being used as the backdrop for a new BBC programme. Rehearsals are already underway ahead of filming, which begins on Monday (July 6).

CoventryLive understands the new series is called I Can Taste It! and is centred on food and tasting. It explores a sensory journey through different flavours, ingredients and foods.

Crews were spotted near Anny Bakery in Coventry Market on Wednesday (July 1). Presenter Aaron Roach Bridgeman was rehearsing with a big-eyed orange puppet and two young boys.

Common Story, which is based in the Midlands, is leading the new CBeebies project. It features young people from across Coventry, including those who enjoy exploring new flavours and those who may need encouragement to try new things.

Children will discover food through sight, smell, sound, touch and taste across the series. Each episode begins at the colourful 'Taste Shack' before Aaron and the young people known as the 'Taste Buds' head to Coventry Market to meet stallholders and gather ingredients.

Common Story is behind the programmes I Can Do It, You Can Do It Too, and I Can Grow It. I Can Taste It! is a CBeebies series comprising 30 ten-minute episodes and commissioned by Kate Morton.

Patricia Hidalgo, from the BBC, said: “It reinforces our commitment to backing world‑class talent and reaching as many families as possible with shows that help children laugh, grow and feel inspired.”
