In the chaos and fun of all the snow yesterday, Coventry youths were causing trouble.

A group of children were pictured throwing snowballs at travelling cars outside Allesley Hotel on Sunday night (November 28).

Throwing snowballs which could result in damage or harm is a crime and one resident took to Facebook to express her concern and warn others driving through the area.

Lauren Griffiths said: "These children are running in front of cars on the road and throwing snowballs at windscreens.

"I'm all for having fun in the snow but if these are your kids then kindly explain they'll either end up getting hit themselves or will cause a car to crash."

Maggie Glass commented on the post: "Seriously this post is just a warning that young kids are taking huge risks that could kill or injure themselves or a driver and its passengers.

"It’s not being a killjoy and trying to spoil any one’s childhood - kids can play in the snow of course they can. Just not in the middle of a road in a dangerous situation like that."

However, some thought the post outing the behaviour was unfair as they commented "lighten up".

Sarah Jane Mcalinden commented: "Isn't that what you do at their age god sake."

CoventryLive spoke with local councillor, Jaswant Birdi, who said he was concerned about the behaviour and incidents of this sort should be reported to the police.

“I am concerned about such behaviour, where young people are throwing snow balls at pedestrian, cars and motorists and themselves," Cllr Birdi added.

“No doubt such incidents would have been reported to police and no doubt police will be looking into it.”

As snow is set to continue for the next two weeks, everyone is urged to take care.
