West Midlands Police have made an arrest after an appeal was made following a suspected sexual assault in a Coventry beer garden last month.

Coventry Police shared an appeal on social media after the incident which they say happened in the garden of The Phoenix pub last month.

A man in his thirties has now been arrested, police say, with enquiries ongoing. The suspect has been released on bail in the meantime.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: "A 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. He has been bailed pending further enquiries."

Approached for a comment, a spokesman for the Phoenix previously said: “Following an incident in the vicinity of the premises we are assisting the police with their enquiries.”

The initial appeal, which has now been taken down, included an image of a man officers wished to speak with.

Police issued a description of the man and asked anyone with information to come forward.
