Strictly Come Dancing enjoyed a triumphant return to our screens in October for its 2020 series, with this year's first live show bringing in 10.1 million viewers for BBC One.

And the show has now shimmied its way to a new series high when it comes to viewing figures, with the most recent live show on Saturday (November 14) attracting an overnight audience of 10.6 million viewers.

Considering the year that 2020 has been, it seems there's nothing viewers want more on a dark autumnal evening than some Strictly sparkle.

This weekend featured an additional talking point for fans as long-standing professional dancer Anton Du Beke stepped behind the judging table for the first time to fill in for regular judge Motsi Mabuse, who is self-isolating after a trip to Germany last week.

Anton's first foray into judging provided a lot of excitement for viewers, with many dubbing him a natural as he handed out praise and constructive comments to the celebrity contestants.

We also saw the first 10s of this year's run being handed out, with Shirley Ballas awarding the top score to HRVY and Janette Manrara for their Salsa and Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse for their Couple's Choice routine.

Clara Amfo and Aljaž Skorjanec then received two 10s for their Charleston, from both Shirley and Anton.

Sadly the weekend didn't end well for Max George and Dianne Buswell, as they were eliminated from the competition after losing out in the dance-off to Maisie Smith and Gorka Márquez.

Following their elimination, Max thanked Dianne for being "literally amazing", saying: "For me to get through 90 seconds of a dance for four weeks now is a credit to her, she's just unbelievable."

The pair became the third couple to be voted off the show following Jason Bell and Luba Mushtuk and Jacqui Smith and Anton's eliminations. Nicola Adams and Katya Jones are also now sadly out of this year's series after Katya tested positive for COVID-19 last week, forcing the couple to withdraw according to show guidelines.

Strictly Come Dancing continues this Saturday (November 21) on BBC One.
