Anyone remember this store ??? I never thought the name was funny till now :D

"Freeman Hardy and Willis"

I believe listed in Cross Cheaping (1905) - Ref http://deanocity3.piczo.com/coventrycit ... var=000044

I also believe they had a large factory at Leicester that took a big hit during WW2

It is one of the buildings which was demolished to make way for the original Owen-Owen store in 1937. There are few clear pictures of that side of the road. It might be one of the shops on the extreme right of this colorised postcard:

Update: Well that was lucky guess! :D From the right: Freeman, Hardy & Willis, Lipton's, Bradford Warehouse and then the entry to Little Butcher Row. The road opposite is West Orchard. The left-turn in the distance is not as you might expect Corporation Street (which hadn't been built yet) but Lancastrian Yard.
