Incidentally, there was a 'George Mason' grocer's shop on the corner of Spon End and Hearsall Lane in Coventry as well as a brand of tea with the same name so I am guessing they were quite common in this area?

Quite by chance I found this illustration of Market Place from 1881:

This is "Market Place Milby", which, of course is Nuneaton. Dating from about 1850.

I've been to Nuneaton a fair few times, and can onl assume that this has been replacesd by roads, empty spaces, concrete and car parks and empty walls, as I don't recall seeing a streets cape like this.

those views of nuneaton have barely changed at all, more so with the market square. it it pedestrianised now (surprise surprise) and bridge street is a lot wider but all instantly recognisable still today.
