A founder of one of Bedworth's most popular dynasties has died. Together with her husband, Rosie Twigger opened Harry's Bakery in Mill Street.

Described as a 'tenacious lady with an excellent sense of humour', she helped to found the bakery that generations of people across Bedworth have grown up with. The bakery, which she started with her late husband Harry, is one of the cornerstones of the town centre.

Famously, Harry and Rose’s Bakery, known locally as Harry’s bakery and café, has given ex-servicemen a complimentary batch and drop of whiskey. It is their way of saying ‘thanks’ to them for their service during part of the town's proud Armistice parade.

It is one of the many examples of how it is part of the fabric in Bedworth town centre. Fittingly her final journey tomorrow (April 13) will start at the bakery and then make its way to the Heart of England Crematorium.

A post on the bakery's page on Facebook page pays tribute to her. "It is with the greatest sadness that we have to announce the very sad passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, our dearest Rosie," it reads.

"She passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her close family. She will always be remembered with much love and respect, a tenacious lady with an excellent sense of humour!

"Rosie’s legacy of what she and Harry began all those years ago, the bakery, we so proudly continue in now both of their memories. Reunited after many years, they will both be forever loved and will be missed beyond words and measure."

The funeral service is at 1.15 pm and the family would like people to wear smart and colourful dress.

That is really sad. I often used to use the place when I went into Bedworth.

R.I.P.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
