It has a price tag of a quarter of a million pounds

A Nuneaton church which dates back more than 100 years has been put up for sale.

The former Stockingford Methodist Church is on the market, with an asking price of a quarter of a million pounds.

The pews remain in place - along with the original church organ.

The once popular place of worship in Arbury Road has been closed since the last service was held in September 2014.

In 2016, plans were unveiled to turn the church into Arbury Community Centre.

This included a cafe to be used by the community.

Several community events were held to gauge opinion and decide how to fund-raise for the ambitious project.

But these plans never got off the ground.

Now, this week, a 'For Sale' sign has appeared at the front of the place of worship.

It is being sold by Midlands-based Bromwich Hardy Commercial Property.

On the listing online, it says: "The property is of attractive brick construction with pitched tiled roofing.

"The front main section provides church with foyer and balcony seating above to the front.

"To the rear are raised choir pews and the original church organ is in suite. Beyond which are lobby and stalls together with a church hall and ancillary accommodation including office, kitchen, WC's, plant room and rear lobby.

"At first floor level are a further store."

It goes on to state that the £250,000 is for the freehold of the building.

You could do a lot with that, but you'll be doubling the asking price if you need to get anyone in to help.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

It would make a great studio or workshop but will most probably be divided up into separate flats which will totally destroy the character of the interior.
