Ghost Ads

Postby Midland Red » Tue Aug 03, 2010 11:30 am

There are still a number of ghost ads around the city - ads that were painted onto the side of buildings
There's one in Lower Holyhead Road and I know of at least three along Foleshill Road
One of them is partially hidden by a modern advert and a drain pipe, and I wondered if anyone could actually identify the name of the business

I think that one is "Premier Fashions"?

For many years there was an advert for Hanson's Pianos near the bottom of Hertford Street which was only recently painted over by a building society of all people you think would know better?

I never noticed the one in Lower Holyhead Road before as I normally look up the road rather than down it.

Thanks Dutchman
Couldn't get "Premier" to fit
So I tried a number of possible combinations and came up with "Isher Fashions" which seems to be the answer

Took a quick look this afternoon, I think the name is Asher Fashions.

There are quite a lot of these ads along the Foleshill road. Interesting subject. :)
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

The idea seems to be all the rage at the moment?

Saw this new one in the Holyhead Road this evening:

This is a fascinating subject. We take these ads for granted - but I'm gonna start looking more closely at the sides of buildings now!
