For the uninitiated, the tall building right-of-centre is the Station Hotel. Foleshill Station itself was just the other side of the bridge. The gasworks of course is now the Ricoh Stadium. Note the Coventry-built chassis Daimler CVG6 bus negotiating the bridge and the elegant concrete street lights which were typical of the period.

Yes but I'm not sure what purpose it's used for? It's been painted in the most garish colours.

I remember it was turned into an Indian club of sorts some years ago.

It is a lovely building - such a shame it's ended up the way it has.

We used to go over the bridge to the Fent Shop as mum made our dresses and they sold remnants of fabric.I can remember standing outside minding the pram and whoever was in it at the time whilst mum went in.

This was taken late 2008 from virtually the same spot

That's amazing. Shows exactly what's changed and what hasn't :thumbsup:
Incidentally, that diesel engine in the foreground is old enough to have been in the first picture! They ran in pairs back then with a special brake tender in front as few diesels had the same braking ability as a steam engine.
