The move gives them added protection from redevelopment

Two pub buildings, a water pump and a drinking fountain are among six things which have been ‘locally listed’ by the council to protect them from redevelopment.

A locally listed heritage asset is a building, structure or feature which is not listed by the government but the council believes is an important part of the city’s heritage.

At a recent planning committee meeting six assets were added to the local list of heritage assets.

  • The water pump, in Bayley Lane, city centre

  • Foresters public house, Raglan Street, Hillfields

  • Motor Hotel public house, Dorset Road, Radford

  • 9 North Avenue, in Stoke

  • 8 Stivichall Croft, in Styvechale

  • The drinking fountain, in Top Green, in the city centre

Yes, very good but I would have thought that the Rose and Woodbine on Stoney Stanton also deserves to be a listed building.
Friend of mine, Alf Howes, had a transport business in Arthur St and often had a pint or three with Alf in the Rose followed by egg and chips in the café just up the road. That would have been in the 50s.Happy days.

Hi Jock :laptop_wave:

You'll be pleased to hear it's already locally listed.
