Thanks Rebbonk
It's actually early 1930s although the Maudslay "piano front" bus and other vehicles date from the late 1920s.
For those who haven't seen the picture before, the bus is emerging from Windsor Street. The houses on the left were all demolished in the 1960s to make a car park for the Summerland Tavern. The three-storey weavers' cottages on the extreme right were collectively known as "Union Place".

Somebody, I don't know who, has had a go at colouring the top picture and made a pretty good job of it in my opinion:

I remember the College book shop where I bought paper and stuff to use in college. I think it was a little to the right of your picture.. Almost got expelled for going to the Summerland during lunch time. Totally illegal but I was big for my age so got away with it.
What I was taught there often didn't apply to my job in radio but I took the view that no education is wasted.

Where was the Maudsley factory Dutchman. Was it in Maudsley Ave where Suttons bakery stood?

It was a very long way to the right Jock. In fact when the new Butts Road was built the college bookshop was left isolated on the far side of Albany Road. The shops in the picture are opposite the college workshops rather than the main college building.

Almost Jock. The bakery was built later to one side of the factory. Both are now housing estates.
