Rare 90-yr-old Coventry violin set to fetch £300 at auction

A rare Coventry-made violin is set to fetch hundreds of pounds at an auction in the city this week.

The instrument was crafted in 1922 by P A Hone at a workshop in Stoke.The company had been making violins since 1901.

The instrument comes in its original case and is being offered for sale by Warwick Auctions, in Queen Victoria Road, from 10am on Wednesday.

It has been valued at £300.

Auctioneer Christopher Burns said: “This is a very rare violin in excellent condition.

“In over 60 years of trading we have not seen another specimen of a Coventry-made violin until now.”
