M'mm, that's an interesting question! I went to college with some AWA guys in the early 60s, and remember their stories about excessive costs, like 3/8 inch washers bought in at a tiny fraction of a penny each, that, when they had gone through all the processes, including plating and inspection, boxing, and cataloguing, worked out at 9 shillings each!!
I also remember the works buses that went there - mostly old Guys and one or two 'utility' Daimlers. They were really filthy inside - the seats were thick in grease and muck from dirty overalls. (Yuk!)
I'd like to see some pics of the place, too.
