Thanks Rebbonk. My late housekeeper was a lifelong member of the club although she didn't use it that often. A plaque on the front wall of the present Co-Op claims it to be the location of the original which when you can see quite plainly from these photographs it isn't
The area between the two was occupied by a row of small shops up until the early 1980s.
