New Year's Eve 1962...

(Almost forgot to post this! )

The winter of 1962-63 was the coldest since 1947. A Fowler 2-6-2 tank locomotive waits at then newly-completed Coventry Station.
The incongruity of having a dirty old steam engine servicing a shiny new station was not lost on people at the time.

I vaguely remember that winter. - It was damned cold!

Great picture Dutchman, is it heading North (B'ham) or South?
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

We were holed-up for about two weeks in a pub, put on our own concert to pass the time!

Platform 3, headed towards Birmingham. I'm guessing it's the Rugby-Birmingham local as steam services on the Leamington-Nuneaton run ended in 1959.
