Haunted Coventry and unpublished old photographs

Tue Jan 17, 2012 10:32 am

One of the talks we may arrange as part of Earlsdon Festival week this year ( April 30 - May 7 ) is a talk about "Haunted Coventry" by Dave Eaves. Dave leads ghost walks in the City and is owner of "Magic Box" in Kensington Street, Earlsdon. What he has also said is that he may bring a projector and show us some of his vast collection of Old Coventry photographs. He recently obtained a collection from a policeman ( or fireman ? ) who had some kind of operational command in Birmingham during WW2 which included or involved providing strong assistance to Coventry - he's given him a lot of war time pics of Coventry that have never been published - for example, Dave has showed me one of a man standing on St Michael's Cathedral roof taken on November 13th 1940 - I suspect that must be the last one ever taken featuring the roof prior to the blitz.

If anyone has any interest I will keep you posted on date / time etc.
