Yes, it's outstanding. Ken Crawley has also written some books about the history of Coventry Transport which I can highly recommend.

This piece of track is visible (just) through the fencing around the old Foleshill Road depot

There are some remnants of trackpoles

Thanks MR. I was already familiar with the tram pole in Albany Road which is incredibly ornate when seen up close, wasn't aware of the others before. It says something for the way street services are organsised that no one from the council has noticed they were left over in seventy years!

I believe there are several stretches of tramway still buried under resurfaced roads as indeed are the original cobble stones.

A big pat on the back Rebbonk for this enlightening thread and it stirred the memories of the tram system we had in L'Pool many years ago.
I spent many happy hours trawling round the city on the trams especially the Pier Head watching the ferries plying across the Mersey and sitting enjoying an ice cream, them were the days
My favourite system in L'Pool was the Overhead Railway, which was a schoolkids delight, as we used to get on in the Dingle and be awed especially passing the shipping docks and I am talking about when L'Poll docks stretched for miles and seeing every shape and size of ships docked and moored in the Mersey and dreaming of sailing off into the wild blue yonder. Happy days when life was so uncomplicated and you could walk the streets and not be afraid ;)

Longford Road circa 1920:

The banner hanging for the tram wires was to warn passengers on open-topped trams to remain seated while the tram passed under the bridge to avoid being electrocuted. There was a similar banner just before Albany Road railway bridge.

I am guessing that picture was taken at the same time as the official opening of the park which was in 1921.
