Belated season's greetings from me - I've been away in Lancashire for Xmas.

I had the good fortune to visit Bolton when it still had its magnificent Victorian buildings such as Trinity Street Station:

Bolton's a bit of a dump these days.

Yes, I witnessed its rapid deterioration in the 1960s. Each year I went back there was less to see and by 1968 I'd decided I didn't want to go back again. I'm told that what little of Bolton's history was preserved was due to intervention by the Greater Manchester council created in 1973.
