One of the biggest discount supermarkets in Holland has banned the sale of all meat products in order to keep the climate loonies happy.
To say the reaction has been hostile would be a massive understatement, especially from low income shoppers who live in areas where there is a limited choice of affordable retailers.
Just to be clear it is the supermarket chain ("Jumbo") themselves who have banned the sale, not the Dutch government or any local council.
Think it can't happen here? Most of the bad ideas from Holland find there way here eventually. I can foresee someone like the Co-Op following suit the way they have with some other products.
