Lockdown starting to bite?

There was hardly anyone in my local chip shop last night. The last time I visited on a Friday the place was a madhouse.

Have people run out of money to spend on luxuries like takeaways?

I've not been to the chippy in years. Last time I used one I was disappointed and it wasn't cheap.

I don't think it's just chip shops affected though but any kind of takeaway? Nearby pubs being shut doesn't help.

The ones at Longford seem to be doing OK. I'm not sure about those further towards town at Foleshill.

Where's the money coming from? Nobody outside the public sector and food sector has worked for a whole year and savings only last so long.

Those on furlough? 80% wages, no commuting or work-borne costs?

My children are both working from home, full wages, no commuting nor related work costs. Both tell me their bank accounts are 'rather healthy'.

I keep hearing that the chancellor wants people to start spending the money they've saved once the economy reopens. That leads me to believe that someone's been monitoring bank accounts and has seen balances grow.

It was in the news last week Rebbonk about how much the banks have now because the people are nt spending.
