The "Few" speech

Postby rebbonk » Sun Aug 22, 2010 3:00 am

Friday was the day that Robert Hardy re-enacted the "Few" speech in Whitehall.

All went well, then he was asked if he wanted to interview one of the Battle of Britain veterans. He went to do this interview, and apologised to the veteran because he had not prepared for this unexpected pleasure of an interview and his questions were not well prepared.

The veteran was complimentary and re-assured him that he was not as bad as the previous interviewer who had asked "When did the pilots know when they ran out of bullets,
Spoiler:
did it come up on a screen?"

They really do walk amongst us!
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Hardy is a military historian too!

In any case there are so many myths as to what actually happened during the summer of 1940 I was tempted to start a thread of my own on the subject.
