Jordan Peterson hammers ‘totalitarian’ Covid rules

Image

Controversial psychologist Jordan Peterson has hammered the “totalitarian state” he says has emerged in response to Covid-19, angrily wondering why he ever got vaccinated if the state still won’t leave him in peace.

“I thought, all right, I’ll get the damn vaccine. But, here’s the deal, guys: I’ll get the vaccine and you f***ing leave me alone!” Peterson told podcast host Dave Rubin on Wednesday.

“And did that work? No. So, stupid me, you know?” he exclaimed. “It’s like, why did I get the vaccine then, if you're not going to leave me alone?”

Though Peterson is vaccinated, like all Canadians he is still subject to Covid-19 testing when he travels between Canada and the US, and is still required to mask up indoors in Ontario, where he lectures at the University of Toronto. Canadians who aren’t vaccinated are prohibited from flying out of the country.

“My father isn’t vaccinated. He decided not to, partly because they were telling him he had to,” Peterson explained. “In any case, it’s extraordinarily annoying to see this happening, and to then find out that there’s nothing behind it except the most instrumental and cowardly random polling is extremely disheartening and also maddening and also angering – all of those things at once.”

With the Biden administration pushing employers to enforce a controversial and potentially vaccine mandate despite a court order freezing the rule, Peterson told Rubin that he was surprised by “how rapidly we stampeded to imitate a totalitarian state in the immediate aftermath of the release of Covid.”

Some commenters watching Peterson’s interview noted a certain irony in the prominent dissident getting vaccinated to “appease the mob” and regain his freedom, then being surprised when his freedom wasn’t given back.

There's also 'a certain irony' in a website which has consistently promoted the vaccine reporting this story!

FDA asks for 55 years to release data on Pfizer's COVID vaccine
The FDA promised "full transparency" due to "tremendous public interest" in a drug that it approved after studying the data for just 108 days
.

In response to a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA) filed over three months ago, in August of 2021, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has asked a federal judge for 55 years to review its data before releasing it to the public in its entirety.

The data refers to the FDA’s decision to license what is now known as the Comirnaty vaccine against Covid-19, produced by Pfizer in collaboration with BioNTech. Back in November of 2020, when considering Pfizer-BioNTech’s request for emergency use authorization (EUA) of its product, the FDA promised that:

“In keeping with the FDA’s commitment to ensuring full transparency, dialogue and efficiency, the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee … will meet to discuss the totality and safety and effectiveness data provided … The FDA understands there is tremendous public interest regarding vaccines for COVID-19. We remain committed to keeping the public informed about the evaluation of the data … so that once available, the public and the medical community can have trust and confidence in receiving the vaccine for our families and ourselves.”

In September of 2021, when amending its EUA to include booster doses, the FDA reiterated its commitment to transparency, writing:

“As we learn more about the safety and effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines … we will continue to evaluate the rapidly changing science and keep the public informed…”

The FDA noted at the time that it was studying data provided not only by Pfizer-BioNTech, but also from the “Israeli Ministry of Health, the University of Bristol, U.K. and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC].”

Meanwhile, a group of over 30 academics, professors, and scientists had submitted a request for the data the FDA had pledged to provide for public perusal. The group, known as the Public Health and Medical Professionals for Transparency (PHMPT) includes reputed professionals such as Professor Harvey Risch, an epidemiologist at Yale School of Public Health, and others affiliated with Harvard, UCLA, and Brown.

When a month passed without a response from the FDA, Siri & Glimstad LLP filed a lawsuit on behalf of PHMPT against the FDA requesting that the “Court enter an order requiring the FDA to produce all documents and data submitted by Pfizer … 108 days from today,” noting that, “This 108-day period is the same amount of time it took the FDA to review the responsive documents for the far more intricate task of licensing Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine.”

They added that, “To require less is to render FOIA meaningless, the FDA’s promise of transparency a lie, and to send a signal to every American that while the federal executive branch is shielding Pfizer from any liability for injuries from its product and requiring employers, schools, hospitals and the military to expel those that don’t receive this product, it is protecting the very documents Pfizer provided to our taxpayer-funded health agency to obtain licensure to be able to sell this product.”

In its response, the FDA wrote that:

“FDA proposes to process and produce the non-exempt portions of responsive records at a rate of 500 pages per month,” at which rate the entire body of data it intends to release (which is only the non-exempt portions) will not be released before the year 2076.

The FDA further noted that, “Plaintiff’s request (as set forth below) that FDA process and produce the non-exempt portions of more than 329,000 pages in four months would force FDA to process more than 80,000 pages per month,” and explained that it lacked the necessary staff to process the data any faster.

The FDA added that due to the nature of the data, it would be obligated to take especial care with releasing it in order to avoid compromising “confidential business and trade secret information of Pfizer or BioNTech…” which meant that it would have to go through the data “on a line-by-line basis.”

“As should be apparent,” the FDA continued, “the review conducted by FDA scientists when considering to approve a product is entirely different from the review conducted by FDA government information specialists when considering whether FDA must keep certain information confidential.”

Furthermore, the FDA denied that it was required to release the data in a timely fashion, writing that, “FDA’s regulations do not require or suggest that FDA will release all publicly releasable data immediately after a biologics license application is approved.”

Responding to the FDA’s arguments, Aaron Siri of Siri & Glimstad said in a statement, “It was exactly 108 days for the FDA from the time Pfizer started releasing the licensing records to the time the FDA licensed the Pfizer vaccine. Taking the FDA’s word for it, it has conducted an intensive, reliable, thorough and complete review and analysis of these documents to ensure that Pfizer’s vaccine is safe and effective for licensing. While it can do a thorough review of Pfizer documents in 108 days, it now takes more than 20,000 days to make those documents publicly available.”

Coventry care home to close due to lack of vaccinated staff

Image

Bosses at a small Coventry care home say they are "devastated" to make the decision to close due to staffing issues created by a lack of fully vaccinated care workers.

St Martin's on Woodway Lane, Walsgrave, has been providing care for the city's elderly for more than three decades.

But the home, which caters to 16 people, has been having difficulties finding available staff with the required vaccination status.

From November 11 it became mandatory under government legislation for those working in care homes to be fully vaccinated, unless medically exempt.

However, this approach was labelled "heavy-handed" by trade union bosses who say the industry is "already on its knees".

Now just two weeks on, the impact of compulsory vaccines is having tangible effects on care providers in Coventry, which in turn means vulnerable elderly people, some with dementia and similar conditions, will need to move home.
'Saddened and devastated'

A spokesman for St Martin's told Coventry Live: "After over 30 years of St Martin's being a care home, we are saddened and devastated that we have had to take the decision to close St Martins due to the lack of staffing.

"We are a small home registered to care for 16 service users and heavily rely on staff but the lack of available vaccinated carers made it extremely difficult for us to safely care for our residents.

"We took a decision not to accept new residents some time ago and have worked with the relevant authorities, families and residents to safely find alternative care and accommodation for our residents.

"We have worked closely with CQC and our partners at Coventry Council to safely find alternative accommodation who have been understanding and supportive of the closure and move of the remaining residents.

"This decision has been a difficult one and we would like to thank all the staff, families and residents for everything."

GPs offered £20 per Covid vaccination on Sundays to speed up rollout

Image

GPs will be offered £20 for every Covid vaccination administered on a Sunday as part of a new "Great British vaccination effort" to combat the omicron variant.

Speaking at a Downing Street press conference, Amanda Pritchard, chief executive NHS England, said GPs and pharmacies would be offered £15 for every shot administered from Mondays to Saturday until the end of January, compared to just £12.58 previously.

A £5 bonus would be offered for jabs given on a Sunday and a £30 premium for shots delivered to the housebound, Ms Pritchard said.

"Our hard-working GPs, community pharmacists and primary care colleagues have delivered the lion's share of the vaccinations so far," she added. "We're looking at how we can help them to do even more by cutting other burdens on them to free up clinicians' time."

The increased fees come as the Government unveils targets to offer all adults a booster shot by the end of January.

"We are going to throw everything at it, to ensure that everyone eligible for that booster will be vaccinated within two months," the Prime Minister said. "It's time for another Great British vaccination effort."

He added that temporary vaccination centres would be "popping up like Christmas trees" while the military, pharmacies, hospitals and GP practices would all be deployed in an attempt to hit the vaccination rate seen earlier this year.

A lot that I have spoken to are saying they will not have any booster shots. It would appear that Bozo's words are wearing a little thin.

GPs told to drop routine over-75s health checks to speed up Covid booster rollout

GPs have been told they can stop carrying out routine health checks on over-75s in order to speed up the rollout of booster vaccines.

A deal negotiated with doctors’ unions means that thousands of GPs will continue to be paid for such duties regardless, as well as receiving bonuses for administering jabs.

Health officials have been locked in talks with the BMA since ministers announced plans to speed up the distribution of booster jabs.

Earlier this week, Dr Farah Jameel, the chairman of the BMA’s GP committee, said that family doctors did not have “any capacity” to help with the rollout, urging health officials to free them from other requirements.

On Friday night, health officials announced that terms had been agreed, with GPs told that until April they will have their “income protected” for much of their routine work, regardless of whether it is carried out.

Annual health checks for the over-75s, which assess physical health, mobility and memory, are among those which GPs are allowed to stop carrying out, along with monitoring of millions of people with health conditions such as asthma, diabetes and heart disease.

Minor surgery can also be stopped, but will still be funded, as long as GPs spend the time they would have spent on the procedures administering vaccines, according to the new rules.

Under the deal, family doctors will still be paid for such work with “income protected”, so they are rewarded based on the “historical” workload they had previously achieved on these fronts.

In addition, those who take part in the booster rollout will receive £15 per jab, with rates of £20 on Sundays and weekends, and £30 for home visits.

Earlier this week, the head of the NHS revealed that the rates had been increased as part of efforts to ensure GPs were “properly rewarded” for their efforts.

On Friday night, patients’ groups raised concerns that the changes would worsen access to GPs for patients seeking help for medical reasons other than Covid.

Dennis Reed, the director of the elderly campaign group Silver Voices, said: “I am very worried about this. We have had all this talk about improving access to face-to-face appointments with GPs, but now instead they can stop carrying out health checks and still be paid for them. It looks like the BMA has ministers and officials over a barrel.”

Mr Reed questioned why GPs were being offered “money for nothing,” on top of funding for every jab administered, asking: “Where are the patients in all this?”

This is absolute madness. Covid is a relatively benign problem for most people, yet here we are once again fixating on it at the expense of other procedures that would offer society far greater benefits.

I have no real idea what is behind all of this, but it's nothing about preventing deaths from covid, we're far past that stage. But, Bozo needs to open his eyes, people are beginning to wake up to the fact that things aren't adding up!

It makes a mockery of the claim that the purpose of the vaccination programme is to 'protect the elderly'.

Queen cancels pre-Christmas family lunch as Omicron surges

Image

The Queen has cancelled her traditional pre-Christmas lunch for extended family as a precautionary measure following the UK's surge in Omicron cases.

A source said it was felt the annual event could put too many people's Christmas plans at risk.

It follows England chief medical officer Prof Chris Whitty's advice to prioritise events "that really matter" to avoid the risk of infection.

The event had been due to take place early next week at Windsor Castle.

The 95-year-old monarch usually hosts the lunch each year for her wider family before she departs for her Christmas stay at Sandringham in Norfolk.

The pre-Christmas celebration gives the head of state a chance to catch up with relatives who are unable to travel to her country retreat for Christmas Day.

Along with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, guests usually include the Queen's cousins - the Duke of Gloucester, the Duke of Kent and Prince Michael of Kent.

Last year's gathering was also cancelled because of Covid.
