I can't work out if it is more expensive that way.

I'm told it is as you're heating the air around the saucepan in addition to the saucepan itself.

An exception might be if you use an induction hob as the heat is generated inside the saucepan itself.

That's good to know as I have an induction hob.

If you use it with a stainless steel kettle you'll have the best of both worlds as you can boil just the amount of water you need even faster than an any electric kettle or jug.

I wanted an induction hob myself but for tenancy agreement reasons was forced to accept a ceramic hob with limited controllability and don't have space for another.
