Yet another 'stealth cut' to pensioner benefits...

Postby dutchman » Sun Jan 12, 2020 8:46 am

Extremely few people are aware of this but "Contributory ESA" (formerly sickness benefit and also known by god knows how many other names) has been replaced by so-called "New Style ESA". Historically, "contributory benefits" ie: those that have been earned through National Insurance contributions in the past have never been means tested. However if you are in receipt of an occupational pension that is now taken into account and your sickness benefit will be slashed by half of any total figure above £85 per week.
