...performers will be wowing crowds...

What crowds? It'll be Monday and people will be at work
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

This is why a dragon was in Coventry city centre today

Coming face to face with a fire-breathing dragon doesn't sound like much fun.

But the people of Coventry were certainly entertained this afternoon after the city was visited by the mythical creature as part of the city's St George's Day celebrations.

Shoppers and visitors to the centre of Coventry were greeted with the unusual sight of the dragon in Broadgate earlier, which attracted many a curious glance.

It may not have been the biggest creature, but with smoke billowing from its nostrils, it still made for a fearsome sight.

Luckily for the safety of everyone present, the dragon wasn't real, but the fully animatronic creature was an impressive sight all the same.

And the fiery beast wasn't the only attraction.

In addition to the dragon, there was more entertainment on display in Broadgate between 11am and 3pm today.

Folk duo GreenMatthews kicked things off, performing traditional English songs.

Together, Chris Green and Sophie Matthews delivered a set full of traditional and ancient folk instruments, and treated the crowds to 18th century ballads.

Rounding off the festivities were the Coventry Morris Men, who took centre stage in Broadgate with their traditional folklore dancing.
