Is this Coventry’s worst street for flytipping?

Shopping trollies and mattresses block an alleyway in Stoke which is already lined with bushes and overgrown shubbery.

Anyone going down the side of a house on Bolingbroke Road wouldn’t be able to see a few metres in front of them due to the sheer amount of rubbish piled high.

Two mattresses, one traffic cone and a large shopping trolley lie on top of branches which have been left.

A mattress has been dumped in the front garden of a house on the street which is also covered in smashed glass.

One alley even had a bath down it.

Glenn Hartwell, whose mum live on the road, said there have been a number of complaints but it seems to get worse.

He said: “I have contacted councillor John McNicholas and he has been pushing for it to get better.

“I also spoke to an enforcement officer, who is keeping an eye on it.

“It is disgusting the state of the road.

“It isn’t just there though, it is everywhere.

“I moved back to the city two years ago and it is a dump.

“I bet the City of Culture judges weren’t taken down there.

“Don’t buy a sofa because you can go down there and get one for free.”

Glenn said the residents are trying to report the problems, but some things aren’t getting done.

They have told the Telegraph that when some items have been reported, they cannot be cleared - even if they are blocking a fire route.”

Glenn added: “The residents are sick of trying to get someone to clear it up.

“It is a regular occurrence, but I don’t blame the council for it.

“There are black bags in the street, and it is going to cause rats."

“It is high with houses with multiple occupancy and it is a hindrance for the area," Glenn said.

“People need to be educated.

“I do not know why things aren’t being actively moved if it is being reported.

“I reported the bath in the alley to the street team, but they couldn’t do anything because it is private property.

“What if there was a fire and people cannot get out the back.

“Broken glass has been there for a while and kids could fall on it.

“I would almost say it is a typical street in Coventry.”

In other words it's NOT the 'Worst street in Coventry'
