Paul Padam is embarrassed to tell people where he lives

One Coventry resident is claiming this road is the dirtiest in the city.

Paul Padam, who lives in Foleshill, says he is now embarrassed to tell people where he lives because the litter has got so bad.

Cans, bottles and boxes litter the pavement and the street in Queen Mary’s Road and Mr Padam thinks most people don’t even care.

He said: “I think my street is the dirtiest in Coventry, it is full of litter so much rubbish is on the street.

“I have lived on my road for going on 50 years and I have never seen it so bad. There’s litter everywhere the place resembles a bomb site.”

The state of the street has caused tension for Paul and his neighbours.

He added: “The shop keepers don’t care they just leave empty boxes outside I would say 90 per cent of the people living here don’t care.

“I have over the past few years got into many heated conversions with people who think the pavement is a litter bin. Fly tipping on street corners is now common.

“I’m really angry about this as I’m now embarrassed to let people know where I live.”

Photos show the mess that litters the street, which is off Foleshill Road, but Paul says they show just the tip of the iceberg.

Compared to where many of the inhabitants of that area originate from it is paradise. - Take a look at what floats down the Ganges. :stir:

I think that Allesley Park is fast becoming the favourite place for fly tipping. Not your normal sort of rubbish but rather specialised stuff. At the moment there are two refrigerators and a tall fridge freezer dumped in Buckingham Rise. Previous to this we have had a lot of electrical goods dumped here including hobs, ovens and washing machines. It appears to me that a retailer is installing new items and offers to dispose of the failed appliance. I once had a fridge dumped on our rear car access, phoned the council to remove it and was told that as it was on my land it was my responsibility to get rid of it.

That's a real bummer, and OK the council might legally be right. BUT, the city does have a problem with fly tipping and the council really doesn't seem to be interested in it. The council needs to be far more proactive rather than passing the buck where it can.
