People in Coventry are more likely to get hitched at a younger age according to a recent study.

Generally marriages between couples under the age of 25 are relatively rare, contributing to just five per cent of all marriages in 2013, but the statistics show that in Coventry we like to commit young.

In the same year there were 1,063 marriages alone in the city but more and more are under the influence of young puppy love.

In 94 of 2013’s marriages, both the bride and groom were under 25 years old, contributing to nine per cent of the city’s total ceremonies for that year.

Out of the entire West Midlands region Coventry is more likely to have people married under 25, and follows close behind some of the other higher ranking cities in the country.

There were only 12 places in England and Wales out of a total 170 that had a greater chance of two newlyweds being 25 or under, with Coventry being up there.

The average man who got married in 2013 was just shy of his 37th birthday, whereas women were slightly younger at 34.

It’s also not uncommon for those to get married when they turn 40 and beyond.

In Coventry in 2013 12 per cent of marriages were between couples who were both aged 45 and over.

Coventry seems to be a place now where couples wish to be married before having kids too, with the Telegraph reporting last year that more women over 40 in Coventry and Warwickshire are giving birth than those in their teens.
