Argos don't honour online prices...

I paid a rare visit to the city centre yesterday. It's the kind of thing I normally avoid but there were some things I had to get anyway. Since I had to make the trip I thought I'd stop off at Argos on the way home and pick up a Freeview recorder being advertised cheap.

When I got to the store I double-checked the price and found it was 20% higher than it was being advertised online. I thought "screw it, it's not worth that much and I don't need it urgently anyway".

Asking around it turns out they do this sort of thing quite often. In the terms & conditions it states "The price you pay is the price in the store that day". Reserving the item beforehand makes no difference.

Oh and if you're wondering why I didn't purchase it at the online price for home delivery: "Home delivery is not available for this item." :clown:

They don't deserve your custom Dutchman.

I've had similar where stores publicly state they'll beat any price... Until you quote an online price then they suddenly find a clause that excludes online!

My attitude is "screw them:" I'll either keep my money in my pocket or go elsewhere. They need to sell, I don't need to buy.

The trouble is Rebbonk that particular item is unique to Argos and at the advertised price is a genuine bargain. Tesco Direct used to stock something similar but have long since sold out.
