Figures uncovered by data experts reveal the worst areas of the city for different types of police incidents

The Telegraph can today reveal the most crime-hit streets in Coventry.

Figures uncovered by data experts give a unique breakdown of the top three city streets for a variety of crimes.

Ironmonger Row in the city centre is the top location for recorded police incidents with 153 in the last two years.

The majority of those incidents are shoplifting-related, also making the road the worst in the city for retail crime.

Croft Road and Whitefriars Street, both popular city centre locations at night, had the worst figures for violent or sexual incidents with 33 each - or just over two a month.

Cycle thieves struck most often in Broadgate, with ten offences recorded, while Mapleton Road in Coundon recorded 17 burglaries - more than anywhere else.

There were 36 incidents of criminal damage and arson in Tachbrook Road, Wood End.

The city’s worst spot for anti-social behaviour is Cross Cheaping, in the city centre, with 76 recorded incidents.

Anti-social behaviour: 1 - Cross Cheaping, city centre, 72.2 - Burges, city centre, 63.3 - Spon Street, city centre, 47.

Bike theft: 1 - Broadgate, city centre, 10.2 - New Buildings, city centre, 7.3 - Swanswell Street, Hillfields, 7.

Burglary: 1 - Mapleton Road, Coundon, 17.2 - Fieldside Lane, Binley, 14.3 - Melville Road, Spon End, 13.

Criminal damage and arson: 1 - Tachbrook Close, Wood End, 36.2 - William McKee Close, Binley, 25.3 - Ashorne Close, Wood End, 19.

Drugs incidents: 1 - Bramble Street, Stoke, 9.2 - Chauntry Place, city centre, 6.2 - Croft Road, city centre, 6.2 - Gielgud Way, Walsgrave, 6.2 - Harcourt, Willenhall, 6.2 - Vincent Street, Spon End, 6.

Robbery: 1 - Cope Street, city centre, 5.2 - Chauntry Place, city centre, 4.2 - Croft Road, city centre, 4.2 - William Kirby Close, Tile Hill, 4.

Shoplifting: 1 - Ironmonger Row, city centre, 98.2 - Turlands Close, Walsgrave, 59.3 - Houldsworth Crescent, Holbrooks, 30.

Vehicle crime: 1 - Birmingham Road, Allesley, 36.2 - Long Lane, Keresley, 29.3 - St Columba’s Close, Radford, 28.

Violence and sexual incidents: 1 - Croft Road, city centre, 33.1 - Whitefriars Street, city centre, 33.2 - Burges, city centre, 28.2 - Primrose Hill Street, Hillfields, 28.

Total incidents: 1 - Ironmonger Row, city centre, 153.2 - Whitefriars Street, city centre, 134.3 - Gielgud Way, Walsgrave, 124.

I wonder if these figures will have any effect on policing strategies?
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

There's often a highly visible police presence in Spon End but I haven't noticed a particularly high incidence of crime in the area. In particular I haven't witnessed a drug-related crime around here in a very long time.
