Coventry branded one of laziest places in the country

Coventry has been ranked among the worst areas in the country for inactivity.

The city has third highest percentage of inactive adults in the West Midlands, a new report reveals today.

The study says 36.81 per cent of adults in Coventry are inactive, failing to raise their heartbeat for 30 minutes across a month.

Where inactivity levels are at their highest, early deaths also peak, the study also found.

The top three most inactive areas in the West Midlands are named as Sandwell, Dudley and Coventry.

Coventry was also named ninth in the national inactivity table.

The top three with lowest levels of inactivity are Solihull, Worcestershire County Council, and Warwickshire County Council, all among the region’s least deprived.

Using new FOI data and data analysis, not-for-profit health body ukactive investigated the biggest causes of inactivity and effective interventions.

Chair of health group ukactive, Fred Turok said: “If we are to turn the tide, councils, government, and health and leisure providers need to work together to get more people, more active more often.

"Supporting inactive people to become more active, even for just ten minutes a day, is where the biggest health gains lie.”

Thirteen of the top 15 local authorities where people are the most inactive also sit in some of the most deprived parts of the country, said experts.

I read the Daily Mail, believe me, that raises my heartbeat!
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.
