National Express West Midlands fare changes

Postby dutchman » Mon Jan 07, 2013 3:09 pm

National Express West Midlands fare structure is changing in line with inflation from 2 Jan 2013.

The new fares reflect rising business costs, specifically fuel, and will support further investment into the West Midlands bus network during 2013. It will allow National Express West Midlands to build on the arrival of over 130 new buses during 2012 and support the delivery of innovations such as Oyster style Smartcards in 2013.

The change will mean most ‘one way’ tickets are unaffected with only the adult single increasing by 10p. Daysavers will also increase by 10p and Travelcards by 50p a week.

Fare increases have been kept to a minimum and West Midlands’ bus prices remain amongst the lowest of any major UK city. Paying by direct debit is the cheapest method of travelling and provides unlimited bus travel for just £1.65 per day.

Peter Coates, Managing Director for National Express West Midlands said:
“We have kept the increase to a minimum with the average change in line with inflation. The price rise will allow us to continue our significant investment into the region’s bus network and meet rising business costs such as fuel.”
