although I don't necessarily agree with all of it.
People of my age don't remember what was there before the 1950s buildings so they may not seem so bad to us as they do to others? They did at least all match in style (low-rise, sand-brick construction, flat-roofs) at least for a short period.
My biggest complaint about the Ring Road (other than it was ever built in the first place) is that far from keeping traffic out of the city centre, it actually brings traffic in through the suburbs. Holyhead Road is jammed solid most rush hours even when there hasn't been an accident.
