CET forum

Have the CET forums finally died? I've just visited for the first time in ages, not only are there no new postings, but the forums seem locked.
Of course it'll fit; you just need a bigger hammer.

Dear forum members,

The Coventry Telegraph Forum will closed for several days for maintenance.

During the mean-time, the forums can still be viewed but members will be unable to post.

But, fear not, they'll be back up-and-running asap.

Thanks for your patience.

Smithers.

This was posted almost two months ago by the administrator in charge and the situation hasn't altered since so it's unlikely to be opening again.

Several other local newspaper forums owned by the same Trinity-Mirror group have also either closed or are about to close. I strongly suspect this will include the Sunday Mercury forum as well.

The Liverpool Echo and Liverpool Daily Post news forums are now locked even though the football sections and new registrations are still open.

Also I'm not able to see any timestamp on the posts despite being loggged-in?

Hi,

Does anybody know the reason why the Forum is down?

Regards,

creteskyblue.

Yes, the owners prefer that readers post on the Telegraph's own news pages rather than in a separate forum.

It's not now :!:

Locking the forum

Post by Steve2008 » "Fri Aug 12, 2011 7:09 pm"

It is with regret that the Sunday Mercury has decided to close this forum. In recent months, the level of unsuitable comments has reached a point where it has become obvious that few people are gaining any enjoyment from this service. In around two weeks, this forum will redirect to the main Sunday Mercury site. If you wish to exchange details with other members so you can stay in touch, please us the PM facility to do so.

We will shortly be introducing commenting under Sunder Mercury stories.
